GENERAL ROBERT BADEN-POWELL Autograph Letter Signed 1904

BADEN-POWELL, General Robert, 1st Baron. Baden-Powell, addressed Dear Sir, answering a question about Colonel Gourands recruitment of old soldiers for service in North Africa. 7 x 4 inches, fine, with integral blank leaf.

Inspector General of Cavalry, War Office, 17 February 1904. He writes, regarding Colonel Gourand, that I know nothing of his scheme for employing men other than that he asked my advice how to make known to old soldiers he wants to get some for service in North Africa; and I suggested to him that he might consult you for being able to give him the best advice.

I believe him to be acting on behalf of M. Lebandy - the Jacques I, Emperor of the Sahara. The item "GENERAL ROBERT BADEN-POWELL Autograph Letter Signed 1904" is in sale since Thursday, December 5, 2019.
