Such faith, such sweetness and such tenderness! You say I have so much within me, oh my dear, do you realize what you possess? Of course you do not, for you are a very great great person. Your understanding [illegible] your sweet letter, Dan dearest keep on dreaming, to here with New York don't lit it kill that thing of Beauty you have which is your soul. Rob you of that, for when that is given you're then like every other person. Keep it, treasure it, fondle it, mather it. If I can help you dream and keep it God knows I shall for I know what it is to lose it But you see its people like you who help mere human beings like me, to gain back that which we lose, Thank Heaven! The film was hugely successful, and MGM soon doubled her salary and began featuring her name on marquees. Unlike so many stars of the period, Crawford successfully made the transformation from the silent movies to the sound era, although she preferred the silent movies. Crawford, originally a professional dancer, had made her film debut in 1925. She won a Best Actress Academy Award for Mildred Pierce (1945) and was nominated for Best Actress Oscars for Possessed (1947) and Sudden Fear (1952). A tell-all memoir, Mommie Dearest (1978, later made into a feature film), by her daughter Christina, portrayed Crawford as unfeeling and ruthlessly ambitious.

However, Crawford was a faithful correspondent with her large fan base. Corners slightly worn and creased. See more material from these signers. See more listings in our ACTORS & ACTRESSES (11,072).
